What Mounting Plate Do I Need?
The right mounting plate for your handgun depends on several factors. First, if you don't have an optics-cut slide already, you'll need a mounting plate that is made for your specific handgun. These are usually designed for OEM slides, so if you have an aftermarket slide, you may need an adapter made for that manufacturer. If you do have an optics-cut slide, you may still need a mounting plate for a specific optic. Mounting systems aren't universal, so your slide may not be cut for the optic you want to use. In this case, you'll want an adapter that fits the optic to ensure it sits properly on the firearm and stays secure.

Since the dimensions of each handgun varies widely based on model and manufacturer, you need a certain mounting plate that works for both your specific handgun and the optic you plan to use.
