The Sand Shark from Desert Knife Works is a true synthesis of utilitarian design, craftsmanship, and function. This model features a DLC-finished double-edge dagger blade with plain edges. The ergonomic body is black 420 stainless steel with a "stepped" firing button. The Sand Shark is a double-action OTF knife, meaning it fires and retracts automatically via the sliding firing button on the face of the knife body. An automatic knife that's well-known by collectors and is a big hit with knife nuts everywhere! The good: This knife had big shoes to fill and it doesn't disappoint. Similarly to the original it has that same extremely hefty weight at nearly 10oz, withstood the 50 gallon steel drum stab test, and the action is incredibly sharp with a pleasant sound. Has a strong, sleek, intimidating appearance and deployment. Great value for the money. The Bad: The parts for this knife are created and China and I was unable to determine the type of steel utilized. Does not have the same three screws that enable you to adjust blade play like the original did. Conclusion: Great bang for buck, though the parts were made in China the knife was assembled in America and ive had 0 issues with 500+ deployments. If parts had been made in specialized factories the price would easily be tripled. Great value, great legacy, great feel, a close second to the original. Thank you for your detailed review!
