do I need a special longer spring or buffer to make it work? Expert Answer

As per the manufacturer, this tube can take the standard carbine buffer and spring.

is that a small hole in the flat end? does that go all the way thru? what is that for? drainage?

It's standard for pretty much all buffer tubes and serves to keep air from building up during the compression cycle and keep water from accumulating during wet exercises.

Tailhook- Good Brace by Fleetsailor, May 30, 2021
This item allowed me to use the Tailhook type brace on one of my AR pistoles. I have use the Tailhook on several other pistoles including a B-T GMH45 and GHM9. These cost a bit more, but are well made and stand up to hard use.

This tube was made specifically to match up to the Tailhook Mod 1 pistol brace ideal diameter. The user can install the Tailhook brace anywhere along the tube as desired. The overall length is 9" and does not include buffer, spring, castle nut or end plate. It is a tube only. Features anti rotation slot for standard end plates. Anodized finish.image
