They produce cases and bullets for a broad range of calibers. Plus, durable Lapua Brass is designed to maintain exact tolerances even after multiple reload cycles.
In addition to offering an array of reloading components, Lapua also offers a variety of cartridges sized in the most popular and some of the most niche caliber configurations out there, including .338 Lapua, .308 Winchester, 6.5 Creedmoor, even 22 LR! Lapua is ideal for any match shooter looking to set up that bullseye shot.
Lapua (full name Nammo Lapua Oy) is a company that produces very high-quality, high-performance Ammo and Reloading Components. They are most famous for their 338 Lapua Magnum caliber that they designed and began producing in 1989 and has only increased in popularity since then. Today, many different manufacturers make 338 Lapua Ammo. When someone says they have a "Lapua rifle," they mean that they have a firearm chambered in 338 Lapua, not one that is designed or manufactured by the Lapua company, which doesn't make firearms.
Although the 338 Lapua are definitely the most known, Lapua Bullets come in many calibers for reloading or handloading. They are very popular for bench reloading due to their very high quality, and are often used by top match competitors.
Lapua is from Finland, and is named after the town of Lapua that is on the Lapua River in Finland.
The .338 Lapua is a hard-hitting extreme long-range caliber. It is used by military snipers around the world, and is able to penetrate body armor at 1,000 yards/meters. It is effective at 1,600 yards/1,500 meters, and has been known to hit targets a mile out. With proper shot placement in the neck or head, extreme long-range elk, moose, and mule deer hunters report a lot of success. However, there are hunters who dispute this and feel that a 338 Lapua is overpowered for hunting.
