No, the Vortex Optics OPMOD Defender-ST houses the included CR2032 battery on top of the optic behind the glass. It can be removed and replaced without having to uninstall the optic.

I’m running this STS on several midsize Glock 19/23 size pistols and so far it’s a really good sight. It holds zero, solidly mounted, and just a great dot. I don’t like the tan but nothing a sharpie can’t fix.
