Do you have to remove to replace the battery?

No, the Vortex Optics OPMOD Defender-ST houses the included CR2032 battery on top of the optic behind the glass. It can be removed and replaced without having to uninstall the optic.

No, the Vortex Optics OPMOD Defender-ST uses the Deltapoint Pro footprint. The Vortex Defender CCW (linked below) uses the RMSc footprint.

Will this fit an RIA 5.0 E 9mm?

The Vortex Optics OPMOD Defender-ST uses a Leupold Delta Point Pro footprint, and it will fit on the RIA50E only with the addition of the proprietary accessory optic plate sold directly through Rock Island Arsenal's online store. The sight will not fit on any of the optic plates that come in the box with the pistol.
