No, the M5 handguards are meant specifically for AR-10 upper receivers. The standard AR-15 handguards can be found here:

No, you will need a barrel nut if you are attaching to a standard upper receiver. The barrel nuts can be found here:

How long is the entire rail is it 12inches or a little longer?

The actual length is 12.63". This is a notation from Aero Precision: "Aero Precision rail lengths measure from end to end. This is the point of contact at the receiver to the end of the last picatinny slot at the muzzle."
