The Aimpoint Micro S-1 6 MOA Red Dot Reflex Sight can be used on a rifle. You can use any Aimpoint T1/Micro compatible mount to set your desired centerline height depending on the rifle you intend to mount it to.
Not sure, the diagrams in the box explain you have to use a micrometer or caliper to measure the rib of your shotgun to find the right locater lugs supplied in the box. This optic is also no longer in production, currently the S-2 which uses the ACRO body should be able to fit well as it uses a similar mounting system with more diverse mounting lug options.
You should still be able to zero the optic over the firearm. This is the adjustment range information provided by Aimpoint for this optic:
Adjustment range ±1 m @ 100 m / ±1 yds @ 100 yds
You would be much better off using a model with a pictinny rail as this specific model is meant to mount to shotgun vent ribs and the 1301 Tactical does not have a vent rib. Here is the model with the standard picatinny style mount, but please be aware that this model is a 2 MOA model:

No, this will not mount to the M4 as this has an integrated vent rib mount and will only mount to shotguns with a vent rib. Please email us at techsales@opticsplanet.com and we can look into other options that will work for you.
This red dot is meant specifically for shotgun vent ribs and will not mount to a picatinny rail. You would need to use one of the standard Aimpoint models.
Yes, it should. It includes adapters to fit various vent rib sizes.
As long as your Remington 870 has a barrel with vent ribs, no additional attachments are required.
The Micro S-1 sight attaches directly to the shotgun at any point along the ventilated rib, and interchangeable adapter plates are included to accommodate most popular shotgun rib sizes.
