Are the batteries only to operate the ir light? Will it work without batteries? I plan on getting a separate external ir light — 2 Answers

All night vision requires some sort of battery to power the unit. There are no night vision units that do not use batteries in some way.

The IR light is very impressive. Comes with rechargeable battery and charger. I would not spend the money on trying to get a better IR, it’s already a stand alone IR.

The NV is extremely impressive and easy to use. No it will not work without a battery. It runs on a single CR123.

If you’re looking to hunt hogs it’s the perfect NV. I just dropped 11 last weekend. All through this scope.
