It should still work better than a standard red dot, but with no diopter you may run into focusing issues for the reticle.

No, that's not correct. This optic has a three power magnification. Having an astigmatism, which I also have, will have no bearing with this type of optic. You cannot use this scope with both eyes open. No different than any other magnified rifle scope. You are confusing this prism scope with an optic with zero magnification.
