If you really wanted to go as low as possible, you can use low height Badger Ordnance Scope Rings (.823). Typically with an objective lens of 40-42mm you can use the lowest height rings available. However, using something a little higher will allow for a more comfortable shooting position. The Scar's iron sights allow for a pretty high height over bore with the iron sights being 1.41" high. Due to that I would recommend 1.125" rings.
