The Boyt Harness Alaskan Series Shotgun Case that I would recommend is the 40" case to avoid extra bulk and due to the 1/2 inch of clearance on either side, you will be able to close the case without an issue.

I have pruchased several Boyt cases in the last 5 years. Experience has shown me that the 44" checks all the right spots. You will be lucky to have 2" left over.
