Since it runs 18650 which is the same size as a AA. Would AA batteries have enough power to run this?

No, you cannot use AA batteries with this weaponlight. You cannot use CR123 batteries either.

This light only works with 18650 batteries, anything else will void the warranty.

As stated, the light comes with 2 quality batteries and a charger so it is ready to go out of the box.

does this come with cloud defensive case and the cloud defensive charger? Would have purchased this already but worried about past reviews

The OWL will come in a box with the standard Nitecore Ui2 Charger. It will not come with the hardcase or the digital charger.

Yes, the light comes with two 18650 batteries, one optimizes performance while the other optimizes run time

Yes, it can be set at the 3 o'clock or 9 o'clock position if mounted to a top rail.
