Am I correct to assume that on the backside of the unit, there are seperate buttons for lamp and laser?

Yes, the Crimson Trace Rail Master Laser Sight & Tactical Light System has separate switches for the laser and light.

What is the run time on the battery and can you use a standard 123 battery?

The Crimson Trace Rail Master Laser Sight & Tactical Light System has a total run time of 4 hours. However, the light will auto shut off between 10-20 minutes if left on. It is not compatible with CR123A batteries. It includes a rechargeable battery; additional batteries can be purchased from the Crimson Trace website.

Crimson Trace does not offer specific recoil tolerances for the Crimson Trace Rail Master Laser Sight & Tactical Light System. However, it has been extensively tested on the AR15 platform with no issues of zero shift. If you were looking for more information, I would recommend reaching out to the manufacturer.
