Not all SKS rifles are threaded for muzzle brakes. The Yugoslavian version with the grenade launcher attachment has 14-1 right hand threads for the muzzle device on that particular rifle. The Yugo is the only one that is threaded. All other SKS rifle, whether they're Russian, Romanian, or Norinco, require the removal of the front sight block/bayonet lug assembly. Most SKS owners simply cut the block off the end of the barrel just after the sight block and then have the barrel refaced and recrowned. Then an angular cutter is used to prepare the barrel end for rethreading. You can opt for 14-1 right hand or left hand threads. When cutting the barrel, make sure to leave it 16 inches or longer as measured from the face of the bolt in the closed position to avoid legal problems. A competent gunsmith should perform the cutting and threading operation. But to answer your question, this brake will only fit a Yugo model SKS. Any other SKS will require machining regardless of whether you opt for left or right hand threads.
