Yes this will be compatible with the Rev 45. Make sure you reference the Caliber and Rate of Fire restrictions in the Digital product manual on Griffins Website.

Does this thread directly onto the barrel or does it require a Griffin Minimalist Muzzle Device?

No, you would need to use one of the Griffin taper mounts to attach this device, the minimalist is in this category.

Josh, with all due respect to your question, the product description on OpticsPlanet says the following (all caps are theirs, not mine)- COMES STANDARD WITHOUT THREAD PROTECTOR.
