No, it only functions with pistol magazines. It will not work with full size AR mags.

You can get 9mm conversion kits to change your standard 5.56 NATO pmags to 9mm, which any AR9 will take. Remember, there is no such thing as an "AR9" lower; they are simply AR15 lowers converted accept Glock mags, or Colt in some cases. Also, make sure you look into the correct buffer system for a 9mm conversion. This is where the "gas" vs "blow back" debate is particularly significant.

These will work with Endomags and a standard AR lower. There is proof on YouTube. The only issue is that the magazine needs to stay in for the extractor to pull a round out of the gun. If a round is chambered and you remove the magazine it will not kick the bullet out, the extractor holds on to the casing. You need to empty the magazine by either shooting it empty or by putting an empty magazine back in the gun and racking it out. The Endomag also has allows for last round hold open.
