I'm wondering how this fits on a Vltor A5 length buffer tube.

Once the Vltor A5 length buffer tube is installed on the upper receiver, you simply pull down all the way on the pin in the front of the adjustment lever and slide the buttstock on.

The Hogue AR-15/M16 OverMold Collapsible Buttstock will be compatible with your M&P-15 Sport 2 as long as you have a Milspec carbine length buffer tube equipped.

There is not a replacement butt pad for the Hogue AR-15/M16 OverMold Collapsible Buttstock.

Does the rubber material hinder/make it harder to use 45 degree iron sights?

The Hogue AR-15/M16 OverMold Collapsible Buttstock will allow for a more textured surface to prevent slipping. However, it will not prevent or impede the use of 45 degree iron sights.
