You can mount this on anything that has a M1913 picatinny rail. In regards to visibility alot of that has to do with atmospheric conditions, but specs are listed as follows by the manufacturer: Visible Aim Laser Range: > 25 m, IR Aiming Laser Range: > 600 m (Low), 2000 m (High), IR Illuminator Range: > 2,000 m.

Specs says laser is visible 600m on low, 2000m on high. 2000m for illumination.
