That really depends on the specific units. Steiner offers mutliple different configurations of laser devices from just a single visible laser to units with visible/IR laser and visible/IR lights and everything in between. EOtech products are significantly optics, actual ‘lenses’. I do have the EO model XPS3. I have that mounted a few inches from my eye when I have full grip and prepared to fire. This Steiner I have mounted underneath my hand guard very close to the end of the firearm. Also have a simple vertical grip for control of the Steiner. (I haven’t tried or checked, but the EO might be able to see IR. Many Sig optics have IR abilities. Leupold has a few- Pro Delta is sort of like the Eo.
