This definitely is legal to use on a pistol. It cannot be considered a vertical foregrip because it is much to small. It’s less than 1.5” long, so you can’t wrap more than 2 fingers around it. I doubt the “expert” handled this product in person.

It's a handstop not a vertical grip therefore you should be fine

Ruger uses this exact handstop on their PC Charger pistol. It comes factory-installed. I seriously doubt they did that without consulting their lawyers. Should be fine.

It is legal to use on AR-Pistols. It is a hand stop not a hand grip
