How do you know if it is filming what you want. I'm guessing you have to pull a card and put it in something else to view what you've filmed?

To view the images you would need to remove the SD card and put it in a compatible device (computer) to playback footage and view stills.

Yes, if the recording is started it will continue until it is manually stopped.

What is the range of this lidcam ?

There is no advertised range because there is no real way to determine that. The unit uses a high quality 1080P HD camera with a max 8x digital zoom that could technically record out to a few hundred yards under good conditions.
