Does it work with an A2 front sight post or do you need a riser

I can't see this working with a front hard sight anyway since it has 3X magnification.

will this work on a gamo 177 varmit pellet rifle

The manufacturer doesn't state if the Monstrum P332 Raven Ultra-Compact 3X Prism Scope is compatible with a air rifle. I recommend contacting the manufacturer in regards to that information.

Where is the on-off switch? I see the elevation and windage. The red dot adjust is obvious, but where is the on-off?

There will not be a pure on/off switch. The illumination knob on top acts as the on/off switch.
