Does this attach the same way as my handle carry sight?

The NcSTAR Front Flip AR-15 Receiver Height Gas Block Back-Up Sight is designed to attach to railed gas blocks using a picatinny/1913 rail mount.

I am new to AR 15. I bought the AR PISTOL, will it work on the pistol and where does it mount on the flat rail rest or front? Sorry for ignorance.

Wondering what the distance is from top of rail to top of sight pin?

This is the same height as standard AR15 iron sights, so it's 1.5" to the top of the sight post from the rail.
