The NcSTAR Mark III Tactical Series 3-9x42mm Rifle Scopes utilize a single CR2032 battery that comes included with the scope.

What do I need to mount this on a 3/8" dovetail?

The NcSTAR Mark III Tactical Series 3-9x42mm Rifle Scope uses a proprietary mounting system that will only be compatible with picatinny 1913 rails. So you would need an adapter that mounts to a 3/8 dovetail and adds a picatinny rail instead. You can find the adapter needed in the link below:

Is there not a way to tighten the mount? Once clipped, it doesn’t seem tight at all.
