You would need to purchase a Delta Ring Assembly as well as a handguard cap. Both can be found by using the links below.

If mounting an optic, is the rail on top sturdy/stable enough to allow it to hold zero?

It is not advised to mount optics to a handguard. This is also a 2-piece handguard, so I would not recommend putting an optic on it.

This is not M-Lok compatible. You would need the AB Arms Picatinny Rail Kit, and then use a picatinny mounted bipod.

Yes, it works specifically with the mil-spec delta ring/barrel nut assembly found on most stock AR-15's.
