No it will not as this is made for 5.56

Yes it will. The only difference between the 458 and 556 Bolt Carrier Group is the bolt face diameter and the extractor. The rest of the "458" BCG is simply mil spec 5.56. I regularly use my Tromix 458 bolt in what were originally 5.56 carriers.

It seems more often than not the "expert" answer is incorrect.

Yes, this will work on any direct gas impingement AR-15 (ie: call common ones). If you have a piston gun, you should get the cam pin only version as you do not need the gas key.
