Technically ProMag only recommends this for their Mosin Nagant Precision Rifle Stock (AA9130).

will this forend rail also fit the aa98 stock? They look very similar...

Yes, this should work with the AA98 stock as well. That stock is relatively new, so it is not listed in the compatibility yet.
