I have discovered that taping aluminum foil over the “bulls eye” of a paper target works great! (At least with the brand and model of thermal that I am familiar with)
Yes it does, the 300 yard targeting range is the max recommended distance for hunting.
Depending on what mode you have the unit in, it has the potential to illuminate the user. It works well in daylight, however it only shows variances in temperature.
This unit is not designed to be used with a magnifier. You could use a magnifier but you'll be magnifying a digital image which would lead to image quality loss and pixelation.
Unfortunately Sig does not sell the USB cable separately. We recommend contacting Sig directly, they may be able to provide you with that part. You can reach them here: https://www.sigsauer.com/company/contact/
You can use a QD Riser mount however there is not a QD mount designed specifically for this optic.
Most thermals are rated up to a .308. We would not recommend mounting this on a rifle chambered 300 WIN MAG.
Most thermals are rated up to a .308. We would not recommend mounting this on a rifle chambered .50 Beowulf.
This will work for up to 200 yards, even a bit more and it is rated up to .308 so it will work for .223 and .308. Unfortunately Sig does not sell the Romeo1 plate separately, however if you contact them directly, they might be able to provide you with that part. The ECHO1 is really only effective out to about 50-75 yards, so it will depend on your exact hunting environment and conditions.
