is the battery on the bottom? do you have to take off the sight to change the battery?

The battery is located in the side of the laser portion. You do not have to remove the sight to change the battery.

Yes, this red dot would work on a 45 degree offset rail, but please be aware that it is a full size red dot which means it may be a bit large hanging off the side of a rifle.

No, the red dot is not motion activated. It needs to be manually turned on whenever it is turned off.
