With the legs parallel, what's the overall height of this item when the legs are not extended?

When the legs of the Swagger Stalker QD42 Bipod are not extended and parallel they are 14" long.

Will this mount to a picatinny rail or do I have to buy an adapter?

The Swagger Stalker QD42 Bipod will mount to any standard 1913/picatinny rail.

I only have a sling stud on my rifle that I have my sling attached to. Do I have to take my sling off every time to attach the adapter?

Here's an adapter that will mount to the swivel stud giving you the rail to mount the bipod but giving you another swivel to connect a sling to.
