Trijicon does not provide the height clearance measurement you are looking for, but there are a bunch of examples of end users having a 45 degree offset mounted in front and under the battery compartment of the VCOG. Please be aware that this is not a guarantee as 45 degree offsets vary greatly depending on whether its a red dot, iron sights and the angle/height at which the 45 degree offset sits depending on the platform. If you need an exact measurement you will need to reach out to Trijicon here:

The Trijicon VCOG VC18 1-8x28mm Rifle Scope reticle has MRAD or MOA holdover and windage marks. The distance you should sight in the rifle will depend on the caliber and how far your will be shooting. However, a 100 yard zero will work for .223/5.56 or .308.
Trijicon recommends and provides a lithium AA battery for their VCOG VC18 1-8x28mm Rifle Scope. Trijicon does not provide information regarding using rechargeable AA batteries, I'd recommend reaching out to them directly for more information.

This is not a thermal or Night vision scope the NV modes will allow you to see the reticle while using NV.
You shouldn't run into any issues mounting a 45 degree offset under the eyepiece. The standard 1-6x24 has the following dimensions:
Length x Width x Height
10.05 in x 2.51 in x 2.73 in
(255.27mm x 63.75mm x 69.34mm)
Weight: 23.2 OZ
The 1-8x VCOG has the following dimensions:
Length x Width x Height
10.8 in x 2.8 in x 2.8 in
(274.32mm x 71.12mm x 71.12mm)
Weight: 31.5 OZ
The height is going to be closer to a lower 1/3rd height, but Trijicon does not provide the optical height of the VCOG's over a picatinny rail.
No, the 1-8x VCOG is only offered in Red MRAD or MOA Crosshair Dot Reticle.
