It depends on the type of gun and your budget. If putting on an AR type rifle you need a cantilever 1 piece mount that is around 1.5” high to clear the fore end. For a bolt action rifle it depends on the barrel thickness and whether a picatinny rail is present which adds about .125” to the overall height. For any scope with a 44mm objective, if it’s at least 22mm/.866” high, it will be tall enough. You should have no trouble mounting this on rings as low as .750” once you consider the high of rail and thickness of the barrel. Probably get the lowest ones you can find. Don’t go cheap
though. American Precision Arms, American Rifle Company, Seekins, Leupold Mark 5 all make some of the lowest but they are expensive. For budget that are probably ok look at the cheaper Vortex option or Leupold and maybe Burris
