Both the Vortex Viper and Vortex Diamond Back Rifle Scopes are durable. The Vortex Viper Rifle Scopes are considered a higher quality series of Vortex scopes. The Viper Series typically have some higher end features and clearer glass when comparing them to most Diamondback scopes.
