Yes, it will hold up to the .338 Lapua Magnum.
As well, in the unlikely event that the riflescope would ever fail, it is covered by the Vortex VIP Lifetime Warranty.

With the 50 BMG, odds are you're shooting long distance - this would be an appropriate magnification range - and with the vortex lifetime warranty, you have one less thing to worry about. Go for it.

The Vortex Viper HS LR 6-24x50 FFP Riflescope is not illuminated, there are no illuminated reticles in the Vortex Viper HS LR line.

The Vortex Viper HS LR 6-24x50mm Rifle Scope paired with your Remington 700 would require at least high height scope rings to allow for clearance of your objective lens. You can use this guide to assist you in selecting scope rings:

The elevation turret is an uncapped turret and has no cover but is clearly marked and had a very tactile click to it that would be very difficult to turn accidentally. The windage turret is a standard turret and comes with a cover.
You will need a one piece 30mm cantilever QD mount. American Defense makes some incredibly robust mounts like this item: https://www.opticsplanet.com/american-defense-manufacturing-ad-recon-scope-mount.html?_iv_tube-diameter=30-mm&_iv_color=black&_iv_additional-features=tactical-lever&_iv_code=26S-MT-RE-AD-RECON-30-TAC-R
Yes, this scope would hold up to the punishment of the .50 BMG. Vortex also has a fantastic warranty if anything goes wrong with your scope.
I would recommend extra high rings for this rifle as the stock is inline with the bore and raises the head higher than a traditional rifle stock. This puts your head in a higher position which facilitates the need for extra high rings.
