This sharpener is one of the best manual sharpeners on the market. The Tru Hone sharpener is an electric sharpener. They each have their benefits and disadvantages depending on how you want to sharpen the knife and to what degree you want to get a fine, mirror edge on the blade.

Well good for you, but can you do it a hundred times, and not notice any deterioration of the blade? Point being this takes off much less material in the sharpening process. Which helps keep knives working indefinitely.
