I just received this last night and wore it around for about 30 minutes, taking it on/off and trying different plates, and practicing basic movements like drawing a handgun. The next morning I noticed rashes from where the carrier was rubbing around my pecs/armpits. This is not necessarily 5.11's fault; I am a smaller guy (165 lbs) and this carrier seems very wide. It might work well for people with wider torsos.

However, where I do fault the carrier's design is that the plate compartments seem oversized. I have tried a variety of different plates and they all shift around inside the plate pocket too much. There are straps that are supposed to keep the plates in place vertically, but even tightly strapped down, if you shake the plate carrier you can feel the plates shifting all over inside the pocket. I am using 10x12 plates, and it seems like this carrier is designed for 11x14s, but I ordered the Small-Medium size. I believe this is designed for the traditional squared SAPI armor cuts, not the more modern shooter or swimmer cuts.

I'm giving it 3 stars because it seems like good quality with nice features, but unfortunately it just doesn't work for me. Not sure if I am going to return it or keep it.

This plate is amazing. A lot of real estate front and back. You can strip all the gear and Hex Grid plates off for a minimalist type covert plate carrier.
