Got these shoes on clearance on optics for a super good price. Fits great and has good ankle/heel support for running. I use these for when I do Ipsc and they are comfortable and good for all day wear. Great price and the color is awesome too.
Pros:
- color options
- Sized perfect
- Fits well, great construction
- price/value

These boots work exactly as advertised. Very light. For gravel surface and rocky terrain, these work much better than the 5.11 trainer shoes. They keep out the gravel. They are less suited for heavy brush use. Since the top ventilation design tends to collect dry vegetation.

I read the reviews for this boot on the 5.11 website when they first came out. Didn't need boots at that time, but since then, I have been looking for a light hiker that can take some abuse and not cost a lot. These are that boot. If they have your size, grab them before they are gone. Received my pair, went out on a 4 mile hike over fairly flat terrain. Worked very well, no break-in necessary. Went out this last weekend on a combination 6-mile hike/geocaching jaunt over mixed terrain and 1000 foot elevation change. No problems. Even going downhill, my toes never touched the tips of the boot, and the padded tongue kept the lacing from embedding in my upper instep. The heel counter works great-kept me from twisting my ankle a couple of times. Nothing punctured or penetrated the sole, and the pattern of the sole is earth-friendly. Shoes are true-to-size (duty boot or dress shoe sizing). Wouldn't hesitate on recommending these to anyone needing a mid-trainer or light hiker.

I have purchased three pairs (three colors) of these boots. I fine them comfortable and durable. 5.11 has discontinued what I consider the best shoe product of this type ever. I have a pair of the current replacements and they are not as comfortable or supporting as the Tactical Trainers.
Pros:
- Comfortable and looks good
- broken in right out of the box

These are really good low boots for shooting that breath well due to the mesh upper. I have hot feet, and in leather or poorly ventilated boots I suffer. The styling on these is nice without being "tactical cool" and they seem like they would be comfortable on a long hike or club if necessary. Not sure about longevity, lightweight boots usually give something up in reliability long term, but these seem fairly well made. These are comparable to Merrils or other brands like Solomon, at a lower price. I recommend these for someone on the job who is trying to avoid looking like a tactical idiot. If the SHTF I'd put these in my backpack as a back up pair of footwear cause their so light...and the Anthricite is a really nice grey with black trim.

I had been looking to buy a pair of these 511 Tactical Trainers. Optics Planet had the best price hands down. I ordered a pair and as soon I opened the box and inspected the quality of these hikers, I ordered 2 more pair. Great service from Optics Planet also. From the product description to the front door delivery, to the price, Optics Planet is numero uno.

Will be ordering another pair. Durable. Allows room for orthotics if you need them. Great for everyday use. Does run small so order down a size they provide size chart. Best price around and great customer service.

I have since ordered these from another company in a 1/2 size up and feel confident about the quality of the shoe. I've only worn them for a week, but there don't seem to be any weak points, the soles are firm & stiff which is what I need. The boot aspect (higher ankle) provides a little more stability than a standard low-cut shoe, but not a ton more. So far they have proven waterproof in snow, slush and light rain. I have not stood in puddles nor heavy downpour yet.
I gave this product 4 stars because I don't believe they are true to fit. An 8.5 Wide should be plenty big enough for my foot (which actually measures Mens 8 in length but is quite wide) but no matter how I tied them, my big toe clearly hit the end of the shoe. I ordered 9s from a different website and they are a more appropriate length (although now a little too wide, go figure). My only other critique is that the laces are way too long. Even double-knotted they drag on the ground and I plan to replace them.

I would have never tried these boots at full price, sorry for that kinda money i will buy keens, that said at the low discounted price I paid they are great and I find myself wearing them more then the keens I bought at the same time. Very comfortable and i have had sure footing everywhere I have went, including lots of woods walking. as soon as I got the first pair i ordered two more for me and one pair for the wife. AWESOME and no reason not to try at this price.
Pros:
- Price
- Build quality

After years of buying Merrell trail shoes,I decided to try 5.11 because of past experiences with their clothing. Well made and value priced. Highly recommended based on sizing, material and durability.
