Optic is good but sits higher than I expected
The RD3-012 works fine and the mounting system seems secure, but buyers should understand that using a rear-sight adapter plate naturally puts the optic higher than a direct-milled installation.
It isn't necessarily a problem, but it took me some time to adjust to the higher sight position. If you want the lowest possible optic setup, getting your slide milled would probably be better. If you don't want to modify your slide, though, this is a convenient alternative.

Saved me from having my slide milled
I looked at several different options before buying this because my Taurus isn't optics ready. Having the slide professionally cut would have cost considerably more, and I didn't really want to permanently modify the pistol.
The mounting plate was the main reason I chose this package. After removing the rear sight, I installed the plate and then mounted the RD3-012. Make sure everything is properly tightened during installation. I took my time with it and didn't have any fitting problems.
At the range, it took me a little while to get used to finding the dot because this was my first pistol optic. After a few magazines it became much more natural. I zeroed it and continued shooting for the rest of the afternoon. When I checked everything afterward, the mounting hardware was still secure and my zero hadn't noticeably shifted. For the money, I'm pleased with it.

Better than expected
Honestly surprised how solid this setup feels. I was worried a dovetail-mounted optic would move around under recoil, but mine hasn't.
Good value if you don't have an optics-ready slide.

Works good, installation took some effort
The optic itself has been great so far. Clear glass, bright dot and it has stayed zeroed through a couple range sessions.
My only issue was getting the factory rear sight removed. Mine was extremely tight and I ended up using a sight pusher. Once the factory sight was out, installing the adapter and optic was straightforward. Four stars because installation was harder than I expected, but that's mostly because of the factory sight.

Great upgrade for an older Taurus
I had been wanting to put an optic on my Taurus for a while but didn't want to buy a new slide or send mine out to be milled. This kit gave me a much easier option.
Installation took a little patience getting the original rear sight off, but once that was done the ADE plate went on without much trouble. The RD3-012 is bright and easy for my eyes to pick up. After getting it sighted in, I ran several magazines through the pistol and didn't notice anything coming loose.
For someone who already owns a non-optics-ready Taurus and just wants to add a red dot, this is a pretty practical solution.

Easy install and holds zero
Installed this on my Taurus and everything fit better than I expected. The plate locked into the rear sight dovetail securely and the red dot mounted without any problems. Put around 200 rounds through it on the first range trip and it stayed zeroed. Very happy with the setup for the price.

Exactly What I Needed
Mounted it on my PT709.
Zeroed quickly, holds zero, bright dot, no complaints. Excellent value for the money.

Great Value Compared to More Expensive Brands
I've owned Holosun, Vortex and Burris optics over the years, so I wasn't expecting miracles at this price. What surprised me was how solid this little sight feels.
The housing is aluminum, the controls are positive, and the top-loading battery is a huge convenience. I mounted it on my Taurus TX22 and mainly use it for steel challenge practice.
After several range trips and well over 1,000 rounds of .22 LR, the optic is still holding zero. The glass has remained clear and I haven't experienced any flickering.
Is it exactly the same as a $300 optic? No.
Is it close enough for recreational shooting and training that I don't regret buying it? Absolutely. I actually ordered a second one for another pistol after using this one for a few months.

Nice Optic, Installation Was Harder Than Expected
The optic itself seems well made and the dot is bright enough even on sunny days.
My complaint is really about the installation. Removing the factory rear sight on my Taurus G3 took much more effort than I expected and I eventually had to borrow a sight pusher from a friend. I also wish the instructions had a few more pictures for first-time installers.
Once mounted it works well, but I don't think this is the best choice for someone with zero experience working on pistol slides.

Customer Service Saved the Day
One of the mounting screws I received wasn't the correct length for my pistol. I emailed customer support and they mailed replacement screws within a couple of days.
Once everything fit correctly, installation was easy and the optic has worked flawlessly. Great customer service makes a big difference.
