The clamp works well and attaches solidly with no gaps. The clamp is a shiny black plastic and looks like a cheap toy. I think if I bead blast it on low pressure it may look pretty good. If not, a couple coats of Krylon Fusion flat black should do the trick.

I purchased two of these. One was perfect, but the second clamp had 2 left sides, instead of a left and a right.
I had to fix that with a drill. That gets it to work, but not as well as it should.
Pros: Light weight
Cons: Incorrect parts

For the money this is a good light mount option for a shotgun. It gets the job done and the material will not scratch your barrel or light.

I bought this swivel stud mount about a month ago to secure a light to my rifle, and it works flawlessly!
I bought both this swivel stud mount and the Phoebus barrel gun mount to be used in combination with my pocket sized 18650 flash light (same diameter as many CR123 lights). I wasn't sure as to which mount was better and decided to buy both (the Phoebus is junk).
This swivel stud mount attaches to my ruger 10/22 carbine AND heavy barreled rifle very securely and i have no fear of anything falling off (the Phoebus will not securely attach my flashlight to the carbine, and won't fit over a heavy barrel).
Because the swivel stud mount is plastic i don't worry about it scratching my barrels. (the Phoebus mount is a coated metal and if it attached securely enough for me to use it i would worry about minor metal on metal contact.
Because it is held together with a simple thumb stud i am able to attach and de-attach my flashlight very easily allowing me to keep my light in my pocket throughout my daily activities and attach it to my gun when I need it (the Phoebus requires and allen wrench).
Bverall, I bought both mounts because i wanted the best one and after comparing them the swivel stud is many times better.
Pros: works!

Excellent clamp for a flashlight. Not made to clamp onto an extended magazine. Overall, easy setup and may work for some shotguns. Just a little too small for my Mossberg 12g.
Pros: easy setup
Cons: Plastic, not made to fit on barrel
