Most Helpful Positive Review AIM Sports Inc AR Upper Receiver Vise Block
I purchased this item, along with an Aim Sports Armorers Wrench to replace the upper receiver on my S&W M&P 15 Sport. The product worked very well, along with the armorers wrench. I also purchased the upper receiver with forward assist, and dust cover at the same time.
Most Helpful Negative Review Inexpensive
This Upper receiver block is inexpensive and does the job. However the side of this that doesn’t go into the Vice block is slightly off. Like the mold wasn’t made properly as there is a small space between the two and that should happen. The two pieces should fit like a glove, these do not. I will s...

Works, but not the best option

by Chris, from KS, United States Written on February 7, 2025
I've built a few AR's now and not all of my upper receivers would work in this vise block. It's only worked on my basic mil-spec uppers; it wont work on slick side uppers or side charging uppers and without an action rod to go with it, it's not wise to be putting a lot of torque on a barrel nut or muzzle device. There are better options out there, and yeah they cost more money, but your better off with something else. This will work in a pinch but you shouldn't rely on it by itself.

One half Broke.

by doug, Verified Owner from MI, United States Written on April 2, 2022
First time using it and it broke. I'm sure the manufacturer will say I used it wrong. I'm not a professional just a weekender. But I'll have to buy a different brand from somewhere else. Here's a couple words to make past 200 words to write a review.

No no no like mutombo

by Cmon man, Verified Owner from CA, United States Written on May 3, 2021
This lopsided wonky looking mis-shaped hunk of junk looks nothing like the picture because it's sides don't match up evenly and couldn't fit my objects even with force.. kinda reminds me of those horribly unusual bed fellows I've encountered. Definitely returned and now they took so long giving me store credit that my other optics bucks evaporated
Pros:
  • Paperweight
Cons:
  • Plastic bent out of shape
Best Used for:
  • Wasting money on shipping

Extremely cheap

by AZskeeter, Verified Owner from AZ, United States Written on August 20, 2020
I needed a good upper block to remove a older quad rail from my Rock river arms operator. This block did not fit very good and I had to use additional clamps to distribute the pressure on the portion that was not in the vise. These quad rails have lock tight so I really needed a good fit. I did manage to free everything up without any damage to the upper or rail. In conclusion, it’s doable, but I would spend more money next time and get a reaction rod.
Pros:
  • Low cost
  • does the job
Cons:
  • Barely adequate

Upper Receiver Block

by Patrick, from AZ, United States Written on August 18, 2020
I'll start off with it got the job done that I needed. With that being said, some things that were not convenient. When you're placing the upper in the block it's a bit like horrible tetris to figure out which way and what spot to settle it in. No big deal, once it's in the vice block it doesnt close flush, the part where the receiver is closes fine, but then the other side is not flush pressed together, maybe some sort of molding issue. The material it's made from is sturdy and did just fine in the vice block (not cheap made)

Vise block is too narrow

by CPP3, from CA, United States Written on June 27, 2020
If you put your upper into this block in a 5" vise, you should not place the block on the guide rails. this block is too narrow, unlike others in the industry, and you will damage the cartridge deflector on you upper.

AIM sports upper vice

by Dane, from KS, United States Written on April 29, 2020
I got this to attach a new barrel and handguard to a lightweight upper. It didnt quite fit a mil spec upper or the lighweight one but after some filing and sanding it worked out perfectly. Aside from fitment i didnt find any problems, it worked perfect for me.
Pros:
  • Wont mess up the finish on the upper
Cons:
  • might need sanded down for a propper fit
Best Used for:
  • cheap but useful upper vice

Advise You Look At Other Products

by Ed, Verified Owner from KS, United States Written on April 24, 2020
I ordered this as I was given to understand it would work with an LR-308 upper receiver. It does not. It did work (somewhat sloppily) on a Bushmaster AR15 upper. Things in favor of this product: It’s inexpensive. Things against it: Goodness of fit.
Pros:
  • See above
Cons:
  • None

OK - For the price

by James, from VA, United States Written on November 22, 2019
I bought this product because I was doing a barrel swap. As I attempted to loosen the barrel nut, the vise broke in half. All was not lost as a little crazy glue put it right back together. After that, I put the barrel and upper in the freezer overnight and used the vise to take off the barrel nut with no problems.
Pros:
  • Price
Cons:
  • a bit fragile
Best Used for:
  • AR15 upper receiver work
