Fantastic optic!

by Mark L, Verified Owner from TX, United States Written on September 25, 2025
Everyone knows Aimpoint makes good stuff. Their brand reputation is well deserved. However, competitors have long been offering red dot optics with a reticle that was more than just a dot. It's great that Aimpoint is introducing a product with a more modern reticle design while hopefully maintaining the quality and durability that made them famous. So far so good!
Pros:
  • durable
  • Solid mount
  • Clear reticle
  • Decent battery life
Cons:
  • None

Highly recommended red dot optic

by Mark L, Verified Owner from TX, United States Written on September 16, 2025
Everyone knows that Aimpoint makes top quality durable red dots. However, up until now they've all just been a simple dot. The new MR (multi reticle) model lets you choose between a dot, a dot within a circle, or the circle without the dot. I like the flexibility and this gets Aimpoint caught up with a feature that's long been common on other budget red dots. So, now you can have the reticle you want with an optic that comes from a trusted brand. The glass appears to be very high quality. I have mild astigmatism and SOME red dot optics the reticle appears smeared. For reasons unknown to me, this is one of the few reflex sights where the reticle appears crisp and sharp. You can avoid that problem with other types of optic (like prism optics) but those lose some of the great features this has like excellent battery life. So, this seems to be a great all around option. So far, I am really liking it.
Pros:
  • battery life
  • Reticle and clarity
  • Sharp & bright optics.
Cons:
  • None

Great Improvement

by Troy Bunker, Verified Owner from ME, United States Written on September 16, 2025
I recently bought an Aimpoint Duty RDS and loved it. On Labor Day weekend, I saw Optics Planet advertising an insane deal on the Duty RDS MR. After some quick research, I bought one. After a little more, I bought a second one. I love both Aimpoint and Eotech and this seemed the best of both worlds. Once they came in, I played with them a little then mounted one on my Aero M5 .308 pistol. I only have about 150 rounds down range with it but I am very impressed so far. It has 8 daylight and 4 night vision settings. You can also toggle between the 65 moa circle, a 2 moa dot and a combination of both. You can use the 65 moa circle for range estimation just like the Eotech so I just leave it on both. It also goes to sleep after two hours of inactivity and has the shake awake feature. Unfortunately, it turns off after 24 hours of inactivity. I wish they had left that feature out. They include a tool to adjust for zero and to mount the optic, a T10 torx tool. I have heard complaints about that but I always carry a small set of tools in my kit. I obviously haven't owned it long enough to comment on battery life. I will say that i am impressed and like the improvements they have made over the Duty RDS.
