Most Helpful Positive Review the Armasight NYX-14 Gen 2+ Night Vision, Improved Definition with MG
I purchased the Armasight NYX-14 Gen 2+ Night Vision, Improved Definition from DVOR (sister sight to Opticsplanet.com) for really good deal. But with only 12 hours left on the bid I was not able to do as much research on the brand or the product but I took a chance. In doing so I was able to learn a few things about Opticsplanet and Armasight. First, the items listed on Opticsplanet are not all of products that are offered by Armasight like the ones with MG. Second, if you want to order something not list on their website but is made by say Armasight, sorry Opticsplanet will not do it ev...

Bought Two Units

by DeltaVictor75 in NC, Verified Owner from NC, United States Written on April 15, 2017
I use two monoculars set up with a dual bridge and find them very capable under moonless nights, capable of IDing targets out to 50 yards with no ambient light. Under ideal conditions, you can easily ID anything at 200+ yards. I see very little difference in image quality between SD and IM units. I accidentally bought the different units. The only downside to using them as a pair is the weight. The pair bridged, weighs twice as much as a PVS15. These are best utilized as a monocular if you'd like to save weight.
Pros:
  • Price features
  • Capability, for price
  • available accessories
Cons:
  • weight
Best Used for:
  • distances inside 250 yards

Review for those who want REAL opinions

by Dauphindc, from NC, United States Written on April 13, 2015
I spent the better part of a year researching and trying to decide what I needed and how much $$ was "worth" spending. I had a HARD time justifying $3k or more on a NVG. I lucked up on some Gen 1 items (Russian goggles I got across the pond, 4x Gen 1 scope I got for about 150) so I've played with them and knew what Gen 1 could offer. I read several places where Gen 2 and Gen 3 were not the same, but much closer in quality than Gen 1 and Gen 2. So, I found this on here and several other sites..... Price matched and I feel I REALLY got my $$ worth! Why am I so pleased? Here you go....
First, these were GREAT. There is ONE little blemish dot (had to actually look for the thing to find it!!) and it’s in a place where it doesn’t bother the view in any way. There is no distortion, No fish eye, the weight is great, size is great, I LOVE it! I was REALLY wanting something that fit my hand well, was light, easy to get to quick and turn on quick, etc. Yep, this is it. I have used this in full moon, no moon with stars, on country road with few house lights, and on cloudy night in rain. I have used in pitch black with only a few stars peeking through some clouds. It has not disappointed me yet. I ID’d my son at 200 yards on a slither of a moon. Oh, the IR light on it is good too! Granted, I’m not 100% liking the little “spotlight” thing on it, but overall, works great in the house, on the porch, and in the rain.
The instruction manual is a little confusing… says pul...

Great NV Optic

by Flyer, from NV, United States Written on December 4, 2014
I have owned a Gen 1 Night Vision Optic in the past and I can definitely see the improved resolution and quality in the Armasight NYX-14. This unit is compact, very well built, and easy to operate. The image is very sharp and clear even in the darkest conditions. I have used it both outside and inside at night and have been pleased with how well it works. Even in a large garage in the middle of the night the included infra red illuminator let me see everything clearly. I would definitely recommend this NV Monocular.
Pros:
  • Ease of operation - Just works
  • compact, easy to use for beginers as well as advanced users. It's main use is for terrestrial objects but what makes it stand out is it's an all purpose scope.
Cons:
  • cost

Armasight NYX-14 GEN 2+

by Wildfire, from VA, United States Written on November 29, 2014
I am extremely pleased with this purchase. The sight works great and I really like the auto-shut off feature. I tried a Gen 1 NVG but was not at all satisfied so I ordered this as it looked to be a good value. It works great and provides good detail and view out to 75 - 100 yards in starlight. I will add a dedicated IR light to aid in target identification at longer ranges. Can recommend to anyone looking for a great value in a monocular NVG. I also liked the case and head harness that were included.
Pros:
  • Very sharp and clear
  • Very well made
  • Good value, featured packed for the money
Cons:
  • None
Best Used for:
  • Personal Defense

Gen 2+

by Legacy Reviewer, from WA, United States Written on May 7, 2014
I have been using this around my house for a few days now and would highly recommend this unit for people that cant pony up the money for a gen 3 NVD. I would consider myself a casual night vision user. I currently have the head mount and will probably purchase the weapon mount shortly.
Pros: Internal IR and adaptability

I Tested this NV device in several light situations. In my house at night with no lights on and IR illuminator on with pivotal focusing lens for wide illumination, image was high resolution and well lit up. Very pleased! I took a walk to the woods on a moonless night with clear sky. In the large vacant field of several hundred yards, illumination was very good as well as resolution. I could see the trees making up the boundary of the woods very clearly and would easily recognize a person or dog at 150 yards away. If the person was carrying a weapon at that distance I would have a hard time determining whether it was a large stick or rifle. Perhaps 50 yards would make a difference. As I entered the woods I had no trouble recognizing the small trail in the grass but as I got to the point where the trees made a canopy I found it necessary to turn on the IR illuminator which was effective for about 5 yards in the flood setting. I could see the trees and brush beyond that but resolution made it harder to distinguish a path without further illumination. The addition of a small IR illuminator costing about $100 completely changed the image to very high quality for an easy 100 yards or more depending on the focal setting of the illuminator. In the orchards where I hunt at night for pigs on a no moon lit night the ND device worked incredibly well with no extra illumination. I am very impressed with the ability of this unit to provide great NV capabilities on a moonless night and with ...

NYXC-14

by Legacy Reviewer, from WA, United States Written on February 28, 2013
My bro goes proffessional hunting. He`s damn crazy about killing hogs in forests. I bought him a night vision monocular Prime Pro Gen 2 for his 30th birthday. This is gonna be off the hook for him .. I tested it at night ... awesome!!! The picture is great , green though but very clear, nice resolution. I was told you can adjust AIM(advanced integrated mount) to it to convert it into a rifle scope. Ouite multifunctional thing

This is a small, compact, monocular that works really well. I have Gen 3 goggles and this is on par with them! If I could buy more than one I would! It is that awesome.

Wonderful multi-purpose toy

by Legacy Reviewer, from WA, United States Written on February 22, 2013
I was looking for good reliable night vision goggles and found this one. When you put it on, one eye has night vision and the other one is not armed. It is the matter of personal preferences but I feel more comfortable when I have two different visions and the unarmed eye has wider field of view which is natural. I also love the multi-functional features of Nyx-14 it can be used as goggles, monocular, and even rifle scope with optional accessories. Still it is not a full-fledged night vision scope since there is no reticle in there, but Armasight came out with a great solution which I also got with this monocular. It is called AIM and what it does, it basically converts the monocular into rifle scope by projecting a circle reticle onto the eyepiece of night vision. My unit also comes with manual gain control which is very useful in changing conditions. I can adjust brightness whenever I need to. In two words - great product!
Pros: Light, durable, great image, multi-functionality, manual gain
