This is my first experience with NV goggles.I am impressed with how simple it is to mount on the headgear and use in general. This is white phosphorus which at the time seemed reasonable. And I still think it was a good call. The image is good although a little grainy. I was able to see perfectly in detail in my parents backyard in a neighborhood environment. I live in a forest so that test will have to wait till dark.In their basement it operated good as well. The front lense will need to be adjusted for up close viewing.Even then it is marginal. As far as night shooting,I don't think it will work.I haven't tried that but might. Overall I am happy with it.Not up to spending $5000.00 on a device I will use for fun.$1800.00 I can justify.
Pros:
- easy to use
- small enough for EDC
- good detail

This was my first non gen 1 night vision purchase. I find the performance of this biocular to be very good in its price range. Reading forums and researching NV to try and figure out what to get it seems that most right now prefer a monocular. I tried one for a few days and had to return it. My eyes kept fighting each other after a few minutes of wearing the monocular. With the NYX-7 I have no issues and I do not have any issues walking around with them. Like I read, gen2+ is leaps and bounds better thean gen 1. The cost is also easier to stomach vs gen3. I will probably be getting a nice illuminator in the shirt future for it.

This is my second pair of these. While they are certainly not the cheapest option, I really do like them. Both of mine are the QS model -- which I highly recommend if you can afford. I keep one pair configured with a 3x lens and IR light (and use them like binoculars). The other pair is attached to head gear and allows me to walk/work hands free.

This is the first IR night vision device I have purchased or used. It is the Standard Definition model. I have experience with FLIR thermal from the past, but not IR. I tried for the last few months to get some time behind a set of goggles before making the purchase, but could not find anyone close by with a pair I could look through, so I hope this slightly long review will help others that may be in the same position as I was. My expectations were not real high since I purchased gen2+ and not gen3, so when I first used them I was pleasantly surprised by how well they work. They are also lighter than I expected them to be. They appear to be well built and fairly rugged, although I have been careful with them so far. Once they get used in the field for hunting I will know more on how well they hold up.
I also purchased a Lazer Max Micro sight for night time hunting of hogs and coyotes. The Lazer max is very easy to see through the NV goggles, as it is very bright at 50+ yards, and I can easily see it past 100 yards! It is almost too bright to use at less than 10 yards, as there is a lot of "blooming" from the intensity of the laser dot. Although I don't plan on needing to use it that close. I have about 3 hours behind the goggles now, so I am sure I will learn more about them after a few nights of hunting. I am still on my first AA battery at this time. I do not use the built in IR much, as it is designed to only work at very close range. It will work fine indoo...

Lighter than expected, single image intensifier tube. Takes a bit of getting used to for depth perception, but it was a short learning curve. Excellent with a Glock 19 with TFO night sights - very easy to align with a handgun. Comfortable for extended periods. Makes you look like a Cyclops :)
Pros: light weight single IIT, one battery
Cons: Should have bought it sooner : )

I have been using this device for a few months so now I have some certain impression about its performance. When the night time conditions were not extreme, i.e. stars but no moon I could detect a human sized objects from 120 yards. I am not completely satisfied with these results, so I want to buy a 5x or maybe 8x lens for my Nyx-7. This is another good feature of the product you can have a wide range of accessories for your personal needs. There were two tiny black spots on the screen but I was told that this is acceptable due to production process. They are almost invisible so I can not say it annoys me.

In my neighbourhood we have no street lights and I get home from work in a comlete darkness so to prevent leg fractures I bought Nyx-7 Gen 2 .. Yea, these items by their very nature are not cheap unfortunately but they are very helpful and very handy.. I also use them for home security. I`m leaning heavily towards Armasight for its highest grade optics, reliable electronics and for the whole array of accessories that come with it like IR illuminator, head mounts etc..

At last I had a chance to test this device outdoor. Weather conditions were not extreme stars, no moon. I could detect a human from 120-125 yards. I know that this is not the top version of Armasight Nyx7C goggles and there are some third generation versions but this one performs good enough for the price. Nyx7 has almost all features of a top-notch night vision device so the price is reasonable. What I really like about the item is that it can come with the wide range of accessories and I am already planning to purchase 8x lens for it.
Pros: compact, durable body, great price
