Most Helpful Positive Review Wonderful Scope!
I needed something for night hunting and varmint control, and I wanted it to be as low budget as possible yet being useful and last for a couple of years at least. This Orion 5x scope turned out to be a great deal. It perfectly fits my rifle, gives me at least a 100 yards to shoot at, and it even lo...

Most Helpful Negative Review Seems to have poor quality control on IR illuminator
I purchased this on November 6th, and as of yet, I have not gotten the defective IR illuminator issue taken care of. the IR 810 would flicker then go off, I received a new illuminator from the MFG on the 18th of December installed the battery and it won't even turn on. This makes me concerned about ...

Armasight Orion 5x

by Nonickname, from HI, United States Written on August 21, 2017
I believe this NV device can provide for specific needs. You must know what your needs are and weigh that against what this device is capable of. In my opinion you should be shooting prone or from some stable platform as this unit is bulky and heavy. Also, I recommend making sure your shots will not need to be outside of 100yds. Environmental factors must also be considered. This unit will work well in a pasture field for example, but not in brush or under a canopy. I returned this device due to the elevation turret slipping past its mark and the objective lens cover retaining strap being torn. Opticsplanet provided free return shipping and refunded purchase price minus original shipping charge.

Good product for the money.

by Shaun, from AL, United States Written on April 6, 2016
If your looking for a good night vision scope this is a good scope for the money. It is not a $3000.00 scope but it has a good field of view in total darkness. It's alright for daytime but not as clear as a regular rifle scope.

It's ok I'm returning

by Cody, from IN, United States Written on January 3, 2016
Save your money and spend a little more and get better technology and lighter weight equipment. Yes it is NV but the IR attachment isn't adjustable on its rail and it isn't very powerful. It also is considerably heavy!! I will be returning item.

Nice! Light up the Night!

by Smiley, from IN, United States Written on November 18, 2015
I Have tried this Gen 1+ Night vision tactical riffle scope! And I will be honest. I actually love it. But it's a unit. That is a bit. Heavy and bulky! For a Gen 1. Night vision Reffle Scope, the other night vision. Scope's that I use and own are a better fit as of weight and a lower profile, this Scope may not be the best , in certain aspect's but you can not go Wrong with this N,V Riffle Scope, I Actually My Self Really like it! And will keep using it for Small issue's, and Optic's Planet, is The place to purcase this item! Or any thing Optic Ect.

Orion 5x NV Gen 1+ Rifle Scope

by Eric, from FL, United States Written on December 19, 2014
Very impressed with the clarity of this scope. Its a bit bulky but well worth the price. I plan on doing alot of recon and elimination of pesky hogs on a few friends farms. The thing i didnt like was the fact that it was supposedly in stock but still took three and a half weeks to receive it. I would recomend it to anyone.
Pros:
  • easy to use.
  • Good value for the money,
Cons:
  • bulky and heavy
Best Used for:
  • pesky hogs

The Greatest Scope you can Buy for the nite vision

by Ambassador21, Verified Owner from IL, United States Written on November 21, 2014
I'm a devout hunter and my son too. he wanted the night vision scope for a birthday present before deer season. He said the wild hogs were eating all the bait and feed for the deer at night and he couldn't see them to shoot them. So he wanted the night vision scope to shoot the hogs at night. When he got it installed on his ar15 which he had to use an extra rail to lift the scope up to mount it because the front lens is so large I checked it out and its like day time looking through it, It has 4 lite settings from dark to bright it also has a bright red set of cross hairs. It fantastic. It has a lens cover to cover the lenses up with a small hole on the front cover so you can use it in day lite too but they don't recommend using it the light they say it will ruin the integrity of the scope. It has a rear cup that fits tight to your eye to keep the lite out which works great. All in all the scope is everything its supposed to be. I highly recommend it to anybody that wants to shoot at night ..Im gonna buy one for myself now.

Great Product!

by Ambassador21, Verified Owner from IL, United States Written on November 21, 2014
I have been using this scope on my crossbow for several months now, I love it. I only use it to about 50 yards and the sharpness is very good. The scope comes with 2 batteries, 1 for the scope and the other for the IR illuminator. The batteries are CR123A for both and last a long time, I am still on the batteries they sent me. The scope will see much farther than I mentioned, just not what I am doing with my crossbow. The only complaint is that I feel the power button and the IR illuminator are on the wrong side of the scope, unless you are a lefty. It is a minor thing, but hard to turn on and off while holding up the bow, should have been on the right so you could operate with your trigger finger. It is well made, just a bit heavy, but they all are, and worth the money, I do recommend this one with the Gen 1+, a big step up from the older night vision I had before.

Armasight Orion 5x

by Rubio, from Madrid, Spain Written on September 5, 2014
After reading a lot about this Scope I made up my mind and bought it. I was looking for a good scope for hunting wild boar, but I couldn't afford a Gen2 or 3. I have used it for several weeks now and I am really happy with it. Extremelly easy to zero, I haven't missed a shot since I have it. It comes with the IR810, which is essential during nights with little or no moon. With it you can easily see your target at around 70-80 metres, what I think is amazing for a Gen1 and this price. Having said that, it has several cons too: it's really (really) heavy. If you aim and cannot find your target your arms are going to hurt very quickly. Even if you are in good shape, you won't be able to hold your cross still for more than 10-15 seconds. Although little by little you get used to it, your back is not going to thank you. Besides, the resolution is not outstanding either. When you look at a scenery with no bushes or trees, very homogeneous, you think the scope is not working, that you are not seeing anything, because you can't differentiate objects (for example when I looked at a dry stream full of rocks). On the other hand, if an animal or living being is there, you will see it perfectly, because its eyes will glow like big flashlights in the dark. This way I was able to shoot at a wild boar and a fox that were hidden behind a bush. I am very pleased with it and now I am thinking about buying a NV monocular, so I don't have to hold the rifle with this heavy scope every time I heard...

Worth the Money

by Legacy Reviewer, from WA, United States Written on January 5, 2014
Great product for the money. Sight in was easy, picture at night is more than to be expected for the cost. Although not the greatest on pitch black nights. But its to be expected in my eyes. Minor problem with the IR light which is being addressed now. I would recommened the IR 850 light over the supplied 810 light for further distances. But overall well worth the money.
Pros: Well made, good operation for price
Cons: Weight, my IR light stopped working before i got to use the scope in a hunt. hopefully just a fluke. I wrote to OP about the problem, now waiting on a reply.
