Most Helpful Positive Review Can not believe the difference!
Am extremely impressed with these binoculars. Was using a pair of 10 year old Bushnell's which I thought were okay, until I bough the Athlon's. The field of view is so much larger and the details sharper. I have mostly used the Athlon's for birdwatching, and to view the the many boats that pass by a couple of hundred yards from my house. Can't wait to take these on my next trip to the coast of Maine and use them to view lighthouses and shore birds!

Clear Glas, Light Weight, Solid Build

by Mark, from OR, United States Written on November 5, 2019
I bought these just before this deer season and used them through deer and elk season. These are much lighter than my 10x42 Vortex binos, and the clarity is SO much better. Low-light performance is excellent for those early-morning or late-evening glassing sessions. With the clarity of the glass, these 8x are just as good, if not better, than the 10x42s that will probably stay in the truck from now on.
Build quality is excellent, the binos feel "right" in the hand, and the twist-up eyecups are smooth as butter and lock in place perfectly.
"Ounces are pounds and pounds are pain" goes the familiar lightweight/backpacker mantra. These cut the pain, and the lighter weight makes unsupported glassing a lot more comfortable if you want to forego the weight of a tripod. 5 Stars all around and absolutely recommended.
Pros:
  • Lightweight
  • clairity and low light ability
Cons:
  • None
Best Used for:
  • Backpack Hunts
  • lightweight hunting

Equal to $700 - $800 Steiner

by David, from TX, United States Written on April 11, 2018
Every sport enthusiast I show this Athlon Midas 8X42 is wowed - all the qualities- crisp to the edge, color, low-low eye strain, ergonomics, case, warranted for life, no receipt or questions asked. Equal to a Steiner I bought 12 yrs. ago for $789. That was a very good glass and this is equal. Recommended? Yes, above and beyond.

If I needed another glass, I'd get another Athlon Midas.
Pros:
  • all the qualities- crisp to the edge, color, low-low eye strain, ergonomics, case, warranted for life, no receipt or questions asked.
Cons:
  • perhaps the 10X 42 but for long viewing I prefer this 8X42
Best Used for:
  • long view terrain, birding, game, surveilance,
