Incredible value. best in class glass. - Athlon Optics Heras SPR 4-20x50mm 1in Tube Rifle Scope, SFP

I have long considered the Sightron S-Tac 4-20x50 to be the best value optic at under $500. I have several of them for a reason. This scope beats it in every category besides weight (this is a couple ounces heavier), and elevation adjustment range (Heras has 70 MOA, Sightron has 80). The glass is way ahead of any of my sub-$500 optics. Super bright and crisp images. Controls are super smooth, reticle is effective and uncomplicated but good for ranging and holding over. I prefer a floating dot and moa-based subtensions like this and the STac offer. The turrets can be reset to zero with just a coin or cartridge rim. Zero stop is not the most user friendly in the field, but at this price point it’s nice that it has one. Parallax knob focuses down to 7 yards. Included scope shade and pop up scope caps are nice quality. Zoom ring is low profile so it won’t interfere with a low mount. Included throw lever was unexpected and when mounted the zoom ring is flush with the ocular bell. Windage turret pulls to unlock, pushes in to lock. Turrets are nicely marked and large diameter for ease of use. Overall just a great scope. I’m still marveling at how nice the glass is. So very bright and with vivid color. This scope gets my recommendation at under $500 all day. My only possible detractor for a scope in this class is that the 1” tube may sacrifice some strength versus a 30mm tube. Optically it is incredible. It makes me reconsider what a 1” tube optic is capable of.
