Midas btr 4.5-27x50
After opening the well built box and now holding the Midas btr 4.5-27x50, I'm suprised by the feel of the optic. Holding the glass in my hands you can see the craftmanship that went into place while building this heavy duty optics. The glass is superb even at its max power when you still have the ab...

2 bad scopes
1st Let me say that I do have this model that I purchased several years ago and it is an outstanding scope. I ordered the same scope order in November and it was bad, would not hold a group shot all over the place, sent it back in January and just sent that replacement back as it was as bad as the f...

Athalon Midas
This scope is awesome. Super high quality and optics that rival much higher priced optics. Super clear, crisp, and bright. Smooth controls. This scope will last. No regrets. I would buy again. The packaging is amongst the nicest I’ve seen as well. You can’t lose.
Pros:
- Everything you want in a scope
Cons:
- None
Best Used for:
- Shooting, hunting, patriot stuff

You always get what you pay for...
While the glass is fine and the overall construction seems to be as well my biggest complaint would be the softness of their turrets. When making any adjustment to elevation or windage , it's very easy to move 2-3 clicks at a time rather than one solid feeling click. I own Nightforce , Schmidt Bender and Leupold scopes and This own is far easier to overturn the turrets.....
Mine is a FFP and unless you turn it all the way up to 27 power it's difficult to see the reticle.
Caveat Emptor !

Great scope for the sale price
I have always been a vortex fan. The midas is very comparable to the hst line of scopes. Glass is nice and clear. Turrets aren't as audible as the hst, but they are still good. I haven't field tested more than one outing.

The jury is still out
My overall opinion of the Midas is MEH so far. Not sure if I like it or not. At this point I think I probably should have spent another hundred or so and bought another Vortex, but thought I would give this a try. Image washes out at higher powers, turrets are a bit too easy to turn; they have a soft click/feel to them, I would prefer something more substantial. Trying to slip the turret scale to Zero (when I finished zeroing) was a pain in the butt, and I was not able to get it to be perfectly on 0 I think it was to do with the set screws not wanting to turn, or something. Just not as easy as the 4 other scopes I have.
As far as shooting with it, I think it is OK at lower powers, and settings, but I am not sure if it is accurate at longer ranges: hits where I want out to 600, but beyond sometimes it hits perfectly, sometimes not. To be fair, it could be me, or the loads I am shooting; I will put a known good scope on the gun figure this out. In the mean time, I'm wanting to like this scope, but I am just not.

Good for long range
I purchased this scope primary for shooting steel up to 1200 yards. They claim that it has 18 mils of elevation, the one I have has 21.5 mils and with a 20 MOA base I have 15.5 mils of elevation left. The glass is very good , slightly better then my weaver tactical 3-15 power scope on the same magnification. The scope also tracks and I have not had any mechanical issues. I will say that the eye box is very tight and that I can not shoot with this scope above 15 x because it becomes difficult to get behind. It stays clear even at 27x but extremely difficult to get behind and impossible to shoot. I also noticed that I had a point of impact shift while zeroing from 15x to 20x so the scope is basically a 15x. You get very good glass for a decent prices , has it's draw backs but I would recommend.
Pros:
- Clear, good mechanically
Cons:
- Very tight eye box , impossible to get behind at higher magnification

Nice glass.
My Athlon Midas BTR arrived yesterday. Got a great deal at OpticsPlanet! So I mounted it last night on my Ruger American Predator in 6.5mm Creedmoor. I hit the range today. I chose the APLR 1 reticle in 4.5 - 27 power by 50mm. I started sighting at 50 yards to make sure I was in the ballpark. In short order I was grouping three shots that could be covered by a quarter at 100 yards! I had another less expensive scope on the rifle originally. And I was not able to wring any accuracy out of my rig. But good glass sure changed all of that. Many thanks, Athlon. Great glass at affordable prices. I will be your field salesman from now forward.

This scope is not worth the money
I bought this as a long range hunting scope, it seemed packed full of features for the money. I messed with it but did not even mount the scope. The light gathering capabilities are terrible and the windage turret spins when barely touched. Certainly not a hunting scope.
Pros:
- Clear
Cons:
- Turrets are garbage

Great bang for the buck
Scope arrived on Wednesday mounted it on a.204 Ruger Thursday off to Colorado for prairie dog hunt. Saturday afternoon hit a prairie dog at 1100 yards. Glass is very clear, adjustment is spot on and returned to zero every time. Compared it with my buddies Night force the Athlon seemed to be as clear as the night force. On to the con wish it had a true zero stop, should come with lens covers. Will buy another when I have the need.
optics planet customer service is the best, 3 phone calls and they were very helpful every time, the scope went on sale after my order was placed optics planet credited my card back the difference in price. You will be happy buying from them.

Awesome Riflescope!
First the box is the most heavy duty box I've ever seen a scope come in. Scope is very well finished, turrets have solid clicks, power ring is very smooth as well is the adjustable objective. Illumination s great. Glass is super clear to edges at even the highest power setting. I bought the APLR1 spf IR Mil reticle, Wow, very well thought out. The useful part of the reticle stretches across most of the glass which is great for hold overs and windage without dialing. This is a great scope, you will not be disappointed.
