Dave - ETX's Review of Athlon Optics Rangecraft Velocity Pro Radar Chronograph, 2.4 in Display

I’ve used a couple of other chronographs and the bane of my chronograph use has been setup time and missed shots. The Athlon Rangecraft eliminates both of those issues. Once you’ve charged it and read over the instructions, just unzip the storage pouch, screw in the short tabletop tripod, set it on the table next to your gun/gun rest (but behind the muzzle), turn it on, go through a few prompts, and start shooting. It’s so convenient to use and it can be used as a standalone unit or it can be used in conjunction with the Athlon Ballistics app D/Led to a mobile device. If used as a standalone unit you can sync the collected data with a mobile device later via the Althon Ballistics app and add notes, change the title of your shot string, and do any necessary shot string editing. The title change will only be displayed within the app, not on the chronograph. I also like the fact that I can screw in a tripod adapter and attach the Rangecraft to my Primos Trigger Stick tripod allowing me to collect data while standing up shooting offhand or shooting off of a tripod. I have noticed that the Rangecraft reads velocities approximately 10 fps faster than my Competition ProChrono DLX, but the readings tend to be pretty consistent even at archery velocities. The integrated internal rechargeable battery lasts for at least a few hours. I have yet to run it down completely. Don’t sleep on this little unit. These compact Doppler chronographs are very handy to use and best of all, I haven’t been missing shots in my strings!! This is a good bang for your buck unit and it’s built well, so no need to worry if you knock it over. I doubt it will break if it falls off of the shooting bench once or twice. The chronograph also comes with instructions, a handy storage case, charging cable, and a small tripod as mentioned earlier.
