So far so good
I wasn’t sure what to expect with this being new from Athlon. But so far I’m impressed. I’ve only used it for a couple of different centerfire rifles and a rimfire rifle and haven’t had the chance to try it in archery mode. The housing seems a little plasticky and not as robust as the garmin. With...

Froze Up!!
I am very sad but I am having to return my Rangecraft Pro Radar Chronograph. First off it seems like a well made product. Something that could take a licking and keep on ticking. The tripod stand is pretty nice as well. A swivel head would be helpful but is not an absolute must have. The buttons ...

Athlon Optics Rangecraft Velocity Pro Radar Chronograph
I have been extremely impressed with the Athlon Optics Rangecraft Velocity Pro Radar Chronograph. This chronograph has become an important tool in my shooting setup, especially for reload development and fine-tuning ammunition performance.
The accuracy and consistency of the velocity readings have given me confidence when testing different loads, comparing powder charges, and evaluating bullet performance. During load development, having reliable velocity data is critical for understanding pressure changes, calculating ballistic performance, and identifying the loads that produce the best combination of accuracy and consistency.
I have used the Rangecraft Velocity Pro extensively during my shooting sessions and have found it to provide excellent results. It allows me to quickly gather dependable data without the hassle of traditional chronographs, and it has helped me make better decisions when developing loads for my rifles.
For anyone serious about precision shooting, handloading, and improving their understanding of their ammunition’s performance, this chronograph is an excellent investment. The combination of accuracy, ease of use, and reliable data collection makes it a valuable piece of equipment for both experienced reloaders and precision shooters.

Can't go wrong!
I’ve used this several times at the range. I’ve used it for 32 grain 22LR at 1,200 fps, 240 grain 44s at 800 fps, 58 grain 243s at 3,500 fps, and 350 grain 458s at1,850 fps. No issues. It provides average and standard deviation, as well as let you see each individual shot with deviation from average. The only downfall is the need to pick a velocity range. And there is very little overlap in the ranges so if you’re over or under by much, no reading.
As for convenience it’s the best. Sets up in less than a minute and it’s out of the way. Extremely easy to use.
It does not give down range velocity nor ballistic coefficient.

So much better than old school Chronographs
I just purchased this after an old "Shooting Crony" F1 died. I like measuring my reloads when working up a new load. For me it was always a struggle to get the regular old style chronograph to work reliably. At my range the shooing benches are under a roof and I am sure the lack of light would play havoc on the old optical chronograph. My only issue was purely my fault. When downloading the sessions to the Phone app, you must "end" the session first. I was having issues until i figured it out. The app has a lot of stuff for long range shooters in it; that i am currently not using. (right now i am only working with pistol rounds) I was able to chronograph a few hundred rounds factory and reloaded quickly; download each type of round to my phone without hassle and compare all of the data when I got home. Sure easy.

Athlon Optics Rangecraft Velocity Pro Radar Chronograph
This radar chronograph ease of use is worlds above the optical type with the diffusers. You have to assemble these diffusers on sight and disassemble after use as they are rather fragile.
As well you have to be careful when firing to ensure the projectile/bullet passes between the diffuser rods to get a reading. As well, the chronograph itself has to be placed downrange of the shooting position exposing it to possible impact with a projectile.
The Rangecraft is a compact small device that you place beside your rifle on the shooting table or beside you with whatever thing you are trying to track velocity, just point it down range on its tripod and the device uses radar to deliver the velocity data to the device screen.
Price is 4 times that of the optical chronographs but very competitive compared to the comparable Garmin. In fact you see Garmin came out with an upgraded model to match the Athlon and their price is even higher than their original model.

Garmin killer?
Not sure yet what the drawback is of saving $100 in getting this over the Garmin, but it is not obvious to me. Haven't bothered with the apps of either brand and use as standalone devices to plug data into other apps/software. At worst, I've seen in person, and online, a 1-5fps difference between this and the Garmin and not often on the high end of difference. Mostly they both showed within 1-2 fps of one another. Even if the Garmin is more accurate to 1-2 fps consistently, it does not justify the price difference.
